Many years ago, before there was a spade of dirt turned, a railroad tie laid in place, or a green space staked and rolled, there came together a larger-than-life idea…and a small group of hopeful dreamers.

To those men and women in 1964, who believed enough in that idea to see it into existence, came a home for pure golf under the vision and guidance of Pete and Alice Dye. That golf club embodies this passion and thrives in its devoted membership to this day.

It is Crooked Stick, simultaneously made to be diamond cut-tough and wonderfully enriching for those who endeavored to test themselves, that continues to test players at every level. Pete and Alice didn't make it with the notion it would be a popular, crowded, busy place. This tract of Indiana clay soil, long destined for crops, cattle, and horses, was forged and fashioned into Pete & Alice's firstborn golf course.

It is Crooked Stick, made to be different, beautiful, challenging, unnerving, rewarding, and just pure. This course, this club, these grounds were made for those seeking a true, pure  golfing experience.  Those seeking their best golf at the best course have a home.

It is Crooked Stick, because Pete and Alice Dye, Ike Cummings, Gene Pulliam, Bob Sweeney, Bill Wick, and all the founding members thought to act and then did so with passion, vision, and zeal. To them go the gratitude of many. Golfers of days past, moments present, and memories yet to come – who pause at Crooked Stick's green refuge for a moment of pleasure along their journey – can always count on this place to carry the torch and the mastery of Pete's innovative vision.

It is Crooked Stick.

“A haven far removed from the urgency or conflict, where golfers can enjoy the quieter pleasures of their game in seclusion and peace. Crowds have no place here, and waiting between shots must be almost unknown, for the membership is limited,”
– P.A.Ward Thomas

Membership by invitation from its members is in keeping with the philosophy of Crooked Stick. Crooked Stick should continue its rich tradition of a limited membership golf club, where the members share the same core values of a world-class golf course with a first-class but modest facility; that our golf course and playing conditions are our number one priority and that promoting fellowship among our members, contributing to the game of golf and being responsible members of the community represent the character of the club.
